Mission
Statement
Guided by the essential Jewish
values of doing good deeds (tzedakah) and repairing the world
(tikkun olam), Jewish Family Service is dedicated to improving
the lives of diverse individuals and families throughout
the Sacramento region. We serve people of all ages, racial
or ethnic backgrounds, and income levels.
JFS operates a thrift shop called Second
Hand Rose to give the community an opportunity to contribute
their used goods to benefit the agency, and to provide community
service.

Jewish Family Service is nonprofit 501
(c)(3) corporation established in 1982 as a committee of the
Jewish Federation
of the Sacramento Region. The agency incorporated
in 1989 and developed an independent Board of Directors. Today,
JFS continues as a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation.
JFS is also a California Charitable Trust. JFS is a Certified
United Way agency for the first time, beginning in 2005.
JFS is a member of the Association
of Jewish Family & Children's Agencies (AJFCA) representing
145 Jewish human service organizations througout the U.S.
and Canada.
JFS is a Certified United Way partner.
